Personal
I am proud to be the 4th generation in our family to practice dentistry! Beginning in 1910, and continuing today, the Hamrick family has been providing compassionate dental care in Fountain Inn, Charleston, and Greenville, SC. Preston’s father, Eric, has been a practicing Periodontist in Greenville since 1984. His love of dentistry, was the catalyst to Preston becoming a dentist himself.
Prior to attending dental school, I spent my childhood in Greenville, SC. I enjoyed various sports including basketball and snowboarding. One unique sport I had the opportunity to do was competitive waterskiing (both my parents water-skied at the collegiate and national levels). I spent my summers traveling to different tournaments and competing at the state, regional and national levels. After high school, I attended the University of South Carolina for my undergraduate degree. I was out of college for three years before going to dental school where I focused on running my own small business.
Education & Advanced Training
I attended dental school at the Medical University of South Carolina, graduating in 2012. While at MUSC, I had the opportunity to use the latest technology during my undergraduate education. Graduating from dental school was just the beginning of my education. Following in my father’s footsteps, after graduation I immediately began pursuing continuing education at the highest level. Taking courses from world class educators has completely changed the direction and focus of my practice. My goal is to provide long lasting, esthetic dentistry.
The foundation for my practice philosophy comes from my training at the Kois Center. The Kois Center is a post-graduate program for practicing dentists located in Seattle, Washington. Participants travel from all over the world to learn from Dr. Kois. The focus of the nine core courses is to cover the latest scientific research in all aspects of restorative dentistry. What makes this program unique is that Dr. Kois reads and updates his material based on the most recent science. Graduating from this program involves six trips to Seattle and over 250 hours of continuing education.
My passion in dentistry is to give patients the smile they deserve. For our patients, this can range from simply doing in-office whitening to improve the color of their teeth, replacing a single fractured tooth with a veneer, or to restoring the entire mouth using veneers, crowns or implants. When making changes to your smile, it is important to be able preview those changes prior to doing definitive treatment. Utilizing new technology such as Digital Smile Design, we can use a 3-D scan of the patients teeth and digital photos to allow our patients to see what is possible.
